being just a mama

Being Just a Mama is Good Enough

I have always wanted to be a mama, even as a little girl. People would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I would say I wanted to be a teacher, but only because when I would say I wanted to be a mama, the reply was “Yeah but like, what about for a job?”

As an adult now can I just say being a mama IS a job. Why do we as a society have this idea that “just being a mama” isn’t a job; dare I say that we think it isn’t good enough? Then we wonder why Postpartum Depression is so rampant in new mamas. Being a mama is the absolute BEST job in the world.

Being “just a mama” is absolutely good enough. We, mamas, are our kiddos greatest example of love. They see love when we change the poopy diapers with smiles on our faces and returning their sweet babbling with, “Oh, my baby, I love you cutie pie!”. Our love for our kiddos is evident when we leave the pile of laundry to chase the toddler around the kitchen yelling, “AAARRRRGH! It’s the mommy monster! I’m gonna get that baby monster! ROOOOAAAAARRRRR!”

Be just a mama and teach them the important things.

We teach our little ones the important things, the things that no one else could possibly teach them as well. Being just a mama we teach our kiddos how to pray, when they hear our prayers to our loving Father. Nothing brings me joy quite like hearing my 3 yr old sweetly say, “Heavenly Father, thank you for my mama.” They watch us and they learn how to love, when we shower them in kisses after a bath. When we show them adoration even when they lie to us, they learn that we are always on their side.

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

So you see, Being “just a mama” is absolutely “good enough”. Give yourself grace today, sweet friend, and just LOVE on those babies.

with love, Jenn
